A word from the Rabbi
Please join us this Shabbat Morning for Shabbat Services and a special Biblical Torah reading of Parshat Zachor (Remember). We remember what Amalek did to the Jewish People. Haman was a descendent of Amalek. We likewise remember all the Haman’s of history, past and present. A special prayer will be recited inmemory of the Fogel family, who were mercilessly butchered by barbarious modern day Hamans, as well as a prayer for the people of Japan, whose lives, homes and livelihoods have been destroyed by the earhquake and tsunami.
In these difficult times, Judaism believes that joy is the key to open all heavenly channels of blessing as “joy breaks all boundaries”. Just as in the times of Purim, our unity and our tenacious commitment to “being Jewish” (did you know that the term ‘Jew’ or “Yehudi” is first used in the Megillah, in the time of Purim) enabled us to overcome all our adversaries.
Let us join together, brother to brother, sister to sister, as fellow Jews, breaking all boundaries, rejoicing in the miracle of our survival, and opening the Heavenly gates to bring forth blessing upon our People and to the entire world.
There will be a special reading of the Megillah at the Chabad House on Saturday night at 8:30 PM followed by light refreshments.
Join us this Sunday at 4:00 PM for our Grand Purim Bash at the Clarion Hotel, Rt. 9 in Poughkeepsie. Celebrate Purim with Feasting and dancing. Celebrate the Miracle of Jewish Survival. Celebrate the Miracle of our Oneness.
Looking forward to seeing you all at our Purim Bash!
